Cheese & Wine Pairing Class with Megan Vaughan

Cheese & wine pairing class will have everyone learning the 6 rules of pairing wine to cheese, then experimenting with pairing 5 different cheeses with 5 different wines. The wines include a sparkling wine, an off dry white, a dry white, a dry rose, and a big bold red. We will have fun creating awesome (and totally gross) pairings and everyone will leave feeling much more confident in how to successfully pair wines and what to avoid.

Vaughan Cheese is the inspiration of Megan Vaughan. While being educated at The Culinary Institute of America, she discovered her passion for cheese which she carried through to positions in the kitchen at Union Square Cafe and Gramercy Tavern in New York City. She later ran the dining room of Eleven Madison Park as the Assistant General Manager and Service Director where she also developed and ran the cheese program. Educating staff and working with farmers allowed her the awesome opportunity to design multiple iterations of the cheese program while collaborating with numerous local artisans, farmers, and distributors. 

Megan’s passion for cheese naturally led her to pursue her own business. Vaughan Cheese began by curating and serving focused cheese plates for groups excited to eat and learn about cheese. It grew to be a cheese wholesale business and online retail shop bringing American farmstead & artisan cheeses to the communities surrounding our nation’s capital. The business grew to its first physical location in 2021. Based in North Beach, Maryland, Vaughan Cheese Counter & Bar is a full service restaurant and cheese counter specializing in American artisan cheeses. They offer a full menu showcasing cheese & charcuterie boards, sandwiches, salads, grain bowls, and shareable dishes along with a robust selection of wines by the glass and bottle, beers, and specialty cocktails.
