On Saturday, December 7, we’ll be joined by Annette Schiller to discuss and learn about the market of sparkling wine, just in time for the holiday season.
The market of sparkling wine has seen the fastest growing trend over the last decade, with world-wide consumption up 56%. It can be confusing to see all the different labels with prices vacillating between just a few dollars per bottle to close to a hundred. There is Champagne, Cava, Crémant, Prosecco, Sekt, and recent trendy additions, such as Pet-Nat, to name just a few. But they all have one thing in common: they have significant levels of carbon dioxide in the bottle to make them fizzy. We will figure out the difference in the various methods of how the CO2 gets into the bottle and how this plays a significant role in determining the price point. We’ll be tasting:
Pét-Nat
Prosecco
Crémant
Sekt
Champagne
